MISSION TRIP TO UGANDA, June 2010
On June 4th2010, a group of men and women from St. Philip's UMC of Houston traveled to Uganda, Africa to serve alongside Christian-Cultural Awareness and Assistance League to seek a deeper understanding of Christianity in the context of a particular culture.
The mission included visiting hospitals and ministering to patients, working with children, food distribution to orphans and prisoners and visiting Mulago Hospital. The traveling team had also many tourist opportunities and visited the source of the Nile, the Uganda museum, attended a cultural show and visited an an African market village.
Originally a team of 8, the team lost 3 missionaries who could not make it due to other responsibilities and only 5 traveled to Uganda: Dr. Charles Miller, Ms. Tana Wilkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Walker and Christian Wabara. All team travelers are members of St. Philip's United Methodist church and were commissioned by the pastor of the church and its members on May 30th, 2010 at 10:30am.
